You might be a sharp sniper or a super aggressive assault player but to win the game you need to know the map really well.
Lot of the times, we focus too much on target practice, but miss out on knowing the map enough. It comes from jumping into battle field time and again, making notes or connecting dots from experience.

In Engineering, it means you know what are the constraints you are operating with, where are the landmines in the code, or whats the shortest bridge to get from one part of the system to other. With the ability to recall the map from top of your mind, you become the go to person for complex challenges on that codebase.
